The new variety 'Tiger Eyes' that I show here is supposed to sucker less than the wild sumac, but I have no experience in-ground to know if that's true. of necessity all of my plants are of necessity in containers, and that's a terrific way to avoid suckering.Ellen Spector Platthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07423952859470792007noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1334907083926434029.post-52900234552540530882009-08-22T19:37:38.257-04:002009-08-22T19:37:38.257-04:00I have a question about the Sumac - We bought one ...I have a question about the Sumac - We bought one last year - planted it around the house. One of the reasons we picked this plant was the fact it was not invasive. In our yard - it has taken over. We have about 25 "suckers" growing around the main plant. Is there a way to move these to another part of the yard - and is there a way to stop the plant from doing this?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1334907083926434029.post-20853267645508866092009-06-19T11:31:06.196-04:002009-06-19T11:31:06.196-04:00Ellen and Ellen,

It was an amazing color and one I've not seen in any other fall foliage. I've got the photo to prove it but how to show you?

Also Gowanus Nursery Ellen Zachoshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15050574906637976116noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1334907083926434029.post-35880856312234882602009-06-18T20:51:54.328-04:002009-06-18T20:51:54.328-04:00The 'Tiger Eyes' sumac gets more gold in f...The 'Tiger Eyes' sumac gets more gold in fall, doesn't turn bright red like the wild ones.Ellen Spector Platthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07423952859470792007noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1334907083926434029.post-41653940795995028592009-06-18T20:21:42.617-04:002009-06-18T20:21:42.617-04:00Love the cool blue flowers against the yellow suma...Love the cool blue flowers against the yellow sumac foliage!

I've been jonesing for 'Tiger Eyes' forever over at Gowanus nursery -- does it color up in the fall like a regular sumac?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15816232643871767435noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1334907083926434029.post-4623278563805695892009-06-17T19:32:57.413-04:002009-06-17T19:32:57.413-04:00Stunning!!!Stunning!!!urbangardenshttp://www.urbangardensweb.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1334907083926434029.post-58235472041503309562009-06-17T10:10:15.368-04:002009-06-17T10:10:15.368-04:00Not in NY but a great garden of your own!Not in NY but a great garden of your own!Ellen Spector Platthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07423952859470792007noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1334907083926434029.post-29426423017266207822009-06-17T08:42:03.451-04:002009-06-17T08:42:03.451-04:00Sumac in a container, love the idea.
